// Draw & Sight Pickup
I don't know where to look: sights or target?
Your eyes flick between the sights and the target, you chase the dot around the window, or your hits fall apart when the target gets smaller or farther.
Likely causes
- Trying to see everything sharp at once — the eye only holds one distance in focus.
- Looking at the optic window instead of the target, so the dot has to be found every time.
- Using the same sight picture for every shot instead of matching it to distance and target size.
Fixes & cues
- 01Optic: eyes on the exact spot you want to hit, then drive the dot into that line. Never look for the dot.
- 02Irons, close and big: stay target-focused and accept a soft front sight roughly in the notch.
- 03Irons, far or small: shift focus to the front sight before the press — equal height, equal light.
- 04Dry fire the presentation until the sights or dot arrive aligned without searching.

Can't find the dot or sights on the draw
The gun arrives but the dot isn't in the window (or the front sight isn't in the notch) — you hunt for it before the first shot.

My draw / first shot is slow
First shot regularly takes noticeably longer than your par, even when the rest of the string is fast.
