Can't find the dot or sights on the draw
The gun arrives but the dot isn't in the window (or the front sight isn't in the notch) — you hunt for it before the first shot.
Likely causes
- Inconsistent grip off the holster, so the gun points somewhere different each time.
- Head moving to the gun instead of bringing the gun to the eyes.
- Pressing out with the muzzle high or low instead of along the line of sight.
Fixes & cues
- 01Lock the head and eyes on the target; drive the gun up into that line of sight.
- 02Press out with the dot window on the eye–target line the whole way — don't arc up from below.
- 03Set the grip in the holster identically every rep; the dot location starts there.
- 04Practice eyes-closed presentations: open your eyes at full extension and check the dot.

My draw / first shot is slow
First shot regularly takes noticeably longer than your par, even when the rest of the string is fast.

I don't know where to look: sights or target?
Your eyes flick between the sights and the target, you chase the dot around the window, or your hits fall apart when the target gets smaller or farther.
